Thanksgiving Movie Date with Orphanage Kids 2014

On the 27th November 2014, Leo Club of SMK TAMAN BUKIT MALURI 2014/2015 organised our FIRST event called the Thanksgiving Movie Date with Orphanage Kids 2014 in Cathay Cineplex, The Curve, Mutiara Damansara in conjunction with Thanksgiving Day. The event started at 6:00-8:30pm. Registration booth opens at 5:15pm. 

We managed to call 35 kids from a home called House Of Joy located at Puchong to come and watch "Penguins Of Madagascar"with us and the public together. Not only that, It was the first time the orphanage kids got to watch a movie in the cinema & the day itself was the FIRST day "Penguin of Madagascar" was premiered in the cinema. 

The total amount of people including the kids and the public we successfully managed to fill the theater with 124 people out of 126 seats altogether. The event was a tremendous success because we completed our mission which was to carry out the event smoothly without any problems arising. 

Our heart whelmed thanks to our Lion Advisor Mr Lion Siow from Lions Club Of KL Central, Lion James, Lion Alicia , Leo club of Wesley Methodist ,Leo club of Bukit Jalil, members of Leo Club of SMK Taman Bukit Maluri &  all the support from the public given to make this event a memorable one!  We managed to put a smile on each of every one of the orphanage faces! Once again, thank you to our Lion Advisor for the sponsorship & to everyone who joined us to make this event a successful one. Without everyone of you, this event wouldn't be a successful one. Leo Club of Kepong Baru Badminton Competition 2014

               On the 30th of August, Leo Club of SMKTBM had participated in the Leo Club of Kepong Baru's Badminton Competition 2014. It was held in Pusat Badminton Sri Sinar from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm. The organizing chairperson was Leo Jarriel Ong and to be honest, we, Leo Club of SMKTBM and students from SMKTBM were glad we could participate and had a great time as we not only had fun but woke up on a Saturday morning to exercise and keep ourselves fit. Kudos to Leo Club of SMK Kepong Baru and participants of SMKTBM whom, of course, did a brilliant job!

           I am proud to say that Sabrina Chin had successfully grabbed the gold medal in Women Singles. Siow Tze Yang and Chew Daniel successfully made it to the second round of the competition but resigned from playing as the court was simply too hot and it was about lunch time and started dreaming about their delicious Indo Mee~~ As for Joanne Yep and Phoon Yong Ji, they successfully won the first round but unfortunately lost the second round by 1 point during deuce match with participants from Sultan Abdul Samad :( BUT It's Okay! :) Look at the bright side. We participated and had fun too :) It's not about winning or losing, it's the participation that matters.

          Myself, Leo Tarane Subramaniam, Leo Dharshan a/l Vimalanathan and Leo Ahmad Habibul Amin were the supporters of the day!! We received goodie bags with a packet of Gardenia Bun, a bottle of mineral water and a certificate of participation too :) The event was successful but the court was too hot as there was no ventilation at all. I hope Leo Club of SMK Kepong Baru will take that into consideration.

Leo World Environment Day 2014

On the 24th Of August 2014, the KL Lions Clubs from District 308 B1 organized the WORLD Environment Day at Help College of Arts and Technology with the help of the Omega Leo Clubs.

 We reached around 8:30 am by using the KTM. The Leo's that participated in this event was the President Leo Dharshan a/l Vimalanathan , the Vice President 1, Leo Joanne Yep Tee Wey and the Vice Secretary Leo Ahmad Habibul Amin. We started off the event with some Laughing Yoga .

Opening ceremony started at 9.40 and the speech given by District Governor, Lion Lim Hoe Guan. Follow by Environmental talk by Dr K Kalithasan of Global Environmental Centre on “Raise Your Voice Not the Sea Level” & Environmental Talk By Stuart Scott, International Ecological Safety Collaborative organization (IESCO) on “Climate Change: urgent Risk, Urgent Action”

After the talk, there were various type of Games, exhibition and competition line up such as Public Speaking, Lantern making, Recycled Materials Outfit Design and Games store in the help of Omega Leo’s. Leo Kan Sha assisted in the Recycled Materials Outfit Design where his takes care of the judges, their comment and their score sheet.
